What better way to start your morning than by licking off delicious, gooey cinnamon or orange sweet roll glaze from your fingers? Not many that I can think of! This recipe, provided by Tania, was our Christmas breakfast this past year, and it was totally scrumptious! Thanks, Mom, for sharing it!
Basic Sweet Roll Recipe
- 2 ½ cups warm water
- ⅔ c. dry milk
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tbls yeast
- 2 beaten eggs
- ½ cup shortening
- 6 -7 cups flour.
Sprinkle yeast over water to disolve.
Add sugar, shortning, milk, salt and eggs.
Add flour and mix until dough forms ball. Place in a greased container and cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Allow to Rise double. Punch down dough.
Form rolls and let rise double. Bake @350° until lightly browned.
*For cinnamon rolls I like to roll the dough into a large rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Cover generously with brown sugar and sprinkle heavily with cinnamon. Roll from short end and seal edges. Cut carefully with a length of thread or dental floss. Lay the thread under and perpendicular to the roll of dough so as to cut 1½ inch pieces. Cross and pull the ends.
