Below is the basic recipe. Click here for the gooey Cinnamon Roll Topping recipe, and here for the Honey Orange Rolls recipe.

Basic Sweet Roll Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ½ cups warm water
  • ⅔ c. dry milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tbls yeast
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 6 -7 cups flour.

DIRECTIONS

Sprinkle yeast over water to disolve.

Add sugar, shortning, milk, salt and eggs.

Add flour and mix until dough forms ball. Place in a greased container and cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Allow to Rise double. Punch down dough.

Form rolls and let rise double. Bake @350° until lightly browned.

*For cinnamon rolls I like to roll the dough into a large rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Cover generously with brown sugar and sprinkle heavily with cinnamon. Roll from short end and seal edges. Cut carefully with a length of thread or dental floss. Lay the thread under and perpendicular to the roll of dough so as to cut 1½ inch pieces. Cross and pull the ends.
